Question #2:

I want to convert my Rv from a 30 amp to a 50.?

My generator is a Onan 4000. Do I need a bigger generator in order to convert.

Question #3:

Electrician Please - Outdoor lights worked.....Now They don't?

We installed 4 - 400 watt outdoor lights that have been working great for the past couple weeks. A few days ago one of the lights went out. It was replaced yesterday and some of the lights were adjusted to point at different angles and now none of the lights will come on. As I said we are running them off a generator and it has a 30 amp rv plug that we are connected to. It is running to a fusable switch/disconnect with a 30amp fuse in it and all of the lights are connected together. Could a loose ground or neutral cause all of the lights to go out? And what else could cause none of them to come on. Also, when we flip the switch the generator is bogging down but we have tested the generator and it is not the problem. Also replaced the fuse in the switch and that didn't help. Has to be in the wiring so just need to know what could cause this so I know where to start checking. Thanks!

Question #4:

How much should i sell my RV for?

I got a 1976 Dodge Pace Arrow with a 440ci that starts up great and the generator start up good too, the only damage to it is the water tank expanded and cracked because someone left water in it, it might need new tires, but i think that's about it. My mom is going to sell it to a friend so i wanted to know a good price to sell it at. What do you think?

Question #5:

Rv Problems Generator will not run at night...?

My 1992 ford tioga <FLEETWOOD> has some kinda electrical problem...
Ok figure this one out...
The problem ONLY occurs at NIGHT.
Is not the generator... Iv hooked the rv up to my friends NEW 6000WATT generators and have had the same problem.
Gen info-cummins onan rv generator set 4000watts

This is some kinda problem in the wiring I think ...

Heres what happend....

On the 4th of July my family and me went camping.
We didin have a gen at the time due to the fact that our gen had a voltage regulator out in it and we wear wating for the new one...

Soo we hooked the rv up to our friends 6000wats NEW GEN anyway the gen ran all day with out one problem.
That night about every 10 mins the gen would throw the breaker on it...
The engine would be running fine then REV <surge> then idle back out like normal then about 20secs later throw the breaker...Soo we guessed that there was a problem with his gen <maybe getting hot or something>

When we got home i got the new voltage regulator that we needed for our gen and installed it.

The gen started and ran great <perfect> ran all day.
Well we went camping this weaken and like i said the gen ran fine during the day but at night about 10 or so the gen would start surging <lights would dim> and about 30secs later DIE not throw the breaker but DIE.
After it died I could start it right back up with no problem it would run about 10 mins and do the same thing again...

Iv noticed that even when we are hooked up to electric at night the lights start dimming about every 10 mins or soo but wont throw the breakers.

Im at a lost for words i dont have a clue what the problem could be.
Iv been around cars and small engines my whole life...

Some one save me

Question #6:

Onan Generator problem?

Generator runs fine but does not produce power to RV. When I plug in 120V from home RV electric is good

Question #7:

are you a tent camper, or an RV "camper" who runs their pansy generator ALL DAY?

~~OR~~
are you a camper, who happens to own an RV, that tries to run your generator as little as possible?

(just got back from a few weeks of camping & i'll tell ya'. - i just don't get it. if i wanted to tailgate, i'd go to a charger game)

.
MARK M: nah, i hear what you're saying. i expect & don't mind that sort of stuff. i kept trying to think how crummy i'd feel if they had ol' gramma who had to have an oxygen tank inside - but these guys had these tiki torch things running & prissy wives who spent alot of time getting ready...
...and the guys were the type who had to have the biggest, loudest everything. i don't know... maybe because it was around Independence Day...
...i've come to the conclusion (after venting) that is was, indeed, the prissy wives.

Question #8:

I took this electrical item off of a generator and don't know what it is.?

I took this electrical item off of a 1983 kohler generator (well the RV is 1983).
It looks like a glass tube with a metal band around both ends about 1/4 of an inch from the ends where the two wires attach, at each end it has a round metal piece and that covers the hollow ends and a metal bracket that you use to attach it to the generator, then theirs a bolt going from one end of the tube to the other to hold the brackets on.
Now on the glass there are glass lines that are crooked going all the way around and there are multiple lines.
By the way the glass tube is four inch's long and hollow all the way through.

Can anyone tell me what this is.
I have pictures if you need them.

Question #11:

Question #12:

RV Generator Troubles?

When I start the Generator everything works fine in the RV for maybe 15minutes. Then everything goes out that runs on120. When I disconnect the cord that feeds the RV and plug it an outside outlet everything runs fine. Then with the Generator still running I check the box that the Generator feeds to. It shows the Generator isn't putting out and voltage. Any idea as to what could be wrong with the generator to put out voltage when it first starts then to stop putting out voltage in about 15 min?? If you have any idea is it a big job to fix the generator and would it be an expensive job?? Thanks

Question #13:

Why will the generator in my RV not start?

I bought a used Motor home with a Generac Primepact 55G generator. I can not get the generator to run or fire. I opened the fuel line and gas came out and I sprayed starting fluid into the carburetor but it will not fire. It may not be getting spark but I do not know how to check that. I would appreciate any suggestions.

Question #14:

RVing with two dogs and two cats.....HELP!?

My family is planning an extended RVing trip (12 months) and we have two cats and two dogs that we simply can't leave behind. We aren't worried about the traveling, sleeping or caring for them when we are in the RV, but what do we do with them when we are away (visiting musuems, sightseeing, and doing other things they can't do with us?)

We can't leave the generator on unattendend to keep the air conditoning on, and we are not staying in RV parks very much (whats the point of RVing if your going to stay in a parking lot with others?" Thats why an RV is called self contained!) We aren't worried about them destroying the RV or being lonely, we are mostly concerned about them getting too hot. (like in a locked car)

If we were taking a shorter trip we'd hire someone to care for them at home and we really don't want to have to re-home them, we want them to come with us, but so far we haven't been able to think of any good ideas.

Any suggestions?

Question #15:

How can i keep my RV cool in the summer?

What are some effective and efficient ways to keep my RV from getting too hot in the summer? I have an air conditioner, but I don't have a generator, so i'm looking for ways to keep cool without electricity. At most maybe a box fan. The only thing I have found so far, for example, is KOOL SEAL roof coating which says reflects the sun's rays and cools the RV by up to 35%. Any other ideas, like where to position the fan, what windows and vents to have open, etc.

Question #16:

What size generator will I need to run a 1500 btu Carrier Air conditioner and heat?

It is a CARRIER 15000 btu RV CAMPER AIR CONDITIONER HEAT/COOL. Fits standard 14 X 14 roof opening. 5600btu heat strip included on ceiling assembly. Everything included for installation, just supply the 120VAC. I will be putting it on my boat so the smaller the better. I would appreciate any help. Thanks

Question #17:

I have a ONAN Generator 6.5 and it pulse as if out of gas?

i bought a RV the generator work fine other then it pulses on and off it will pulse the go steady when i use a lot of power item in the RV but if i'm not using much power it pluses the whole time changed oil and filters what else can i do so it doesn't act like it running out of gas

Question #18:

Onan RV generator won't start !?

Hello, I am frustrated with this Onan generator on my Bounder motor home. I worked just fine, and after being parked for a while it would not start. Plenty of oil, It feels like it wants to but a short or a sensor is keeping it from firing, like the low oil kill switch maybe.( location?) . I can see gas fumes come out when you crank it. A solid state replacement board is expensive & The troubleshooting procedure from onan is a real pain, it would take a service man at least 2 hours to go through the list. I don't want to sit there in some garage, so I am willing to give it some of my time if I could get some advice from someone who might be familiar with it.
Thanks in advance. Frenchie.

Question #19:

How hard would it be to convert a seaplane into a "Flying RV"?

I'm just rather curious, as to whether or not it would be too difficult to convert a decently sized Seaplane, like a Grumman Albatross or similar, into essentially a Flying RV/ Motor home, with typical RV features inside such as a shower, small restroom, stove, generator, and such. It would certainly be more expensive than a regular RV, but it seems like a rather neat thing to do, actually, if possible.

Question #20:

what is the best portable rv generator?

for a 21 front deck toy hauler just enough to help keep the batteries charged and run the microwave here and there
