Generators for supplying electricity to your home and business during blackouts... - generator Questions

Question: how do generators and inverters work without electricity??!!?

( Back )

Answer #1:

They run on alternate power sources. There are many different types of power sources available, not just electricity. After all, how does your car run without being plugged in?

Answer #2:

WITH BATTERY ...BACK UPS.

Answer #3:

Are you serious? Generators are called generators because they GENERATE energy from other energy sources.

They might run off petrol (or gasoline to Americans), diesel, propane or another fossil fuel. Or they may run off solar energy or wind or something else.

Inverters may either be connected to the main power or a generator that generates electricity.

Answer #4:

with the help of electromagnetic induction.
Electromagnetic induction is the production of current with the help of magnetic field lines and an electromagnet.
FOR GENERATOR-
when a coil is placed between the north and south poles of a horse shoe magnet and moved back and forth rapidly, a current is induced in it.
the principal of electrical generators is to convert mechanical energy into electrical energy. :)
FOR INVERTER-
the inverter just stores the electricity when the power supply has no shortage.

Answer #5:

They do it by turning one kind of power into electrical power. The input power can be mechanical (such as wind turbines) or fuel combustion (like gasoline-powered portable converters).

Answer #6:

Generator is running with gasoline, stream or water power. Do not need electricity to run generator.
Generator can product either AC or DC without need any inverter.
Inverter need electricity to work, like you need food to live.

Answer #7:

generators use fuel such as petrol Diesel to run the engine and then to produce electricity..and inverters use chemical battery to convert it into electricity

Answer #8:

they have something called reserved power
