find a place that sells Generac generators,, do not by Sears as they are crap! 3000 watt are better for such work,, but if you want to use it later for emergency power,, get no less than a 5000 watt,, preferably a 7000watter!

As a former construction worker, and built my own house too, I would stay about 4500 watts. Its more tha enough power to run a few tools and lights all at once, and will be a bit cheaper than a bigger generator. The horse power willnot make much of a difference. it will have the power to turn the coils in the generator efficently. I do not know what brands Sears has so I cannot advise you there.
